Extreme Simplicity

Lila Das Gupta from the Daily Telegraph writes "we are one month into a year long shopping moratorium ... the idea not to shop for a year was born in the haze of post-Christmas deflation. Like many people, not only did we spend more than we needed or ought to, but I wondered if anyone was really the happier for it ... Fed up with the consumerism and lack of respect for the environment ... we surmised that most people that most people don't need to go shopping at all, and probably have enough things in their houses to keep them going for the whole year."

Memory of last year

I have an amazing memory from last year. The father-in-law of a friend of mine dropped off 8 Tommy Hillfiger shirts. He was retiring and couldn't wait to get rid of the shirts. He was ready to get on with his new post career life. The three boys that are pictured on this site were so excited to get one of the shirts. A true transfer of worth without the need for money - which would have likely prevented this transaction. Can't wait until this year!
